On March 4, Ningbo Municipal Shipping Administration announced that Ningbo Guangming 50,000 tons bulk and sundry goods dock which located in Chuanshan Port Area had been approved by the Ministry of Communication and will start construction in the near future. This project is to take the advantage of deep-water costal resources at Chuanshan Port Area and further relieve the stress of a high demand of energy supply, especially coal, in this area. According to the plan, about 836 meters long deepwater coastline will be used to build one 20,000 tons bulk berth, one 30,000 tons sundry goods berth and 50,000 tons berth used for both. The designed cargo handling capacity of dock berths is 3 million tons annually and the total investment of the project is about 600 million yuan.
