The third razor clam festival of Ninghai was held the other day. The most eye-catching event was the razor clam cooking contest.
The contestants were the cooks from the top 20 restaurants of the county. Shortly after the contest began, a variety of razor clam dishes came out. The razor clams were either cooked with bamboo tubes or glutinous rice. There were also crispy clams and razor clams with braised meat.
The cooks were not only showing their cooking techniques but their carving skills. Some carved the food in the shape of grottos, some just modelled on the Olympic five rings. A cook even re-creates the scene of Master Keung Fishing Razor Clams. Even the judges gasped at the superb skills of the cooks.
The razor clam festival had been held for three times since 2006. The theme for this year's festival was ecology, recreation and harmony. The activities included cooking contest, cuisine week, and razor clam catching, etc. The festival would last to the 14th of the month.
