The Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the world longest cross-sea bridge was open to traffic on the May Day. The bridge is 36 kilometers long and it is part of the expressway from Shengyang to Haikou, a north to south thoroughfare along the east coast of China. It is a six-lane bridge, with the speed limit of 100 km/h and use life of 100 years. The total investment amounts to RMB 11.8 billion yuan. Via this bridge, the driveway from Ningbo to Shanghai is shortened by 120 kilometers and the drive time is reduced to two hours.
