The Olympic flame, which was postponed for three days due to the national mourning, continued its trip in Ningbo on May 22. People turned out to watch the flame and witness this glorious moment. With infinite enthusiasm they wished for a great success for the Beijing Olympics.

The torch relay in Ningbo starts at the Phase-4 Container Dock of Beilun Port.

Mr. Yu Zhongfu, deputy director of the Olympics Organizing Committee of Beijing, presented the torch Lucky Cloud and the certificate to Wang Yong and Cheng Yuechong, vice mayor of Ningbo. At 7:20 AM, the guards of the flame lit the torch with the flame from the flame-carrier. Yu Zhongfu then presented the torch to Bayin Chaolu, the Party Secretary of CPC Ningbo Committee. The two then showed the torch to people around. People cheered and sirens sounded. Bayin Chaolun passed the torch to Yu Shijie, the first torchbearer of the city. The Olympic flame then started the journey in the port city.

Ningbo is the 19th stop of the Olympic torch relay. The flame started its journey in the dock and then relayed by 118 torch bearers and vehicles to the Qing’an Guild Hall, the Zhongshan Road, Jiefang North Road, Ningbo Grand Theater and the south end of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge. It traveled about 160 kilometers in Ningbo. Together with the flame, the love and care for the quake-hit areas was relayed too.
