In Ningbo Art Gallery, a exhibition of works of Xiao Feng and Song Ren will be held from 13th to 20th of the month. Xiao was once educated in Hangzhou and later sent to the former Soviet Union to study painting. For many years, Xiao taught in Zhejiang Fine Arts University.
Born in 1932 in Jiangsu Province, he joined the revolution in 1943. In the next year he joined the Xin-an Touring Party, which was then a well-known juvenile literature and art organization, to go in for revolutionary art propaganda activities. In 1949 he entered the East China Branch of the Central Institute of Fine Arts to study oil painting. In 1954 he went to the Soviet Union to study oil painting at Lenin Institute of Fine Arts and was awarded the title of artist. At present he is president and professor of Zhejiang Institute of Fine Arts, chairman of Zhejiang Artists’ Association and standing councillor of Chinese Artists’ Association.
His primary works of art include the picture album “Selections of Oil Painting by Xiao Feng and Song Ren” and the oil paintings such as “Farewell to the South of Yangtze River”, “Daybreak”, “Advancing on the Crest of a Victory”, “Going on Strike” and so on, which were respectively collected by Lenin Art Institute of the Soviet Union, China Art Gallery, Chinese Revolutionary Museum and Chinese Revolutionary Historical Museum. Some of his works were exhibited in USA, Japan and France. “The Oil Painting Works Exhibition of Xiao Feng and Quan Shanshi” were held in different big cities of China.
