Since the plum rain season begins, Ningbo Area has had rainfalls for several consecutive days. As people may worry about floods our correspondent went to interview the headquarters of flood and drought control of the city.
The plum rain season began on June 8. Since that day, there have been continual rainfalls in the city.
According to Li Liguo, deputy chief of Flood and Drought Control Headquarters, as there were relatively fewer rainfalls from Jan to May, the water levels in reservoirs are quite low. The rainfalls have added about 4000 cubic meters to the 26 medium and large reservoirs of the city.
The increment of water storage has alleviated the pressure of drought control of the city. But due to the heavy rainfalls, there might be some geologic hazards.
“Firstly we need to pay attention to the drainage in some low-lying areas; secondly we need to be guard against possible geologic hazards like landslides”, said Li Liguo.
