It is known to all that ancient Buddhist building are complex and are hard to rebuild. But a carpenter in Cixi successfully rebuilt the famous buildings of the China's four sacred Buddhist Mountains in Canada.

The Shandong Hall of the Mount Wutai, a famous carpentry work in China, is one of the projects that was rebuilt in Canada. It costs an investment of 32 million US dollars. The simulated Daxiongbaodian, the Grand Hall, is 44 meters wide and 33 meters deep, with a floor space of 1400 square meters. It is a typical tenon and mortise structure, without a single brick or nail. The builder was a company from Ningbo.

Two years ago, the Buddhist Association of Canada wanted to have replicas of the building complexes of the four sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. After learning the news, Guo Yongyao, a veteran carpenter with about 20 years of experience in making replica furniture, made the models in 45 days and successfully won the bid for the project.

Mr. Guo Yongyao and his 40 artisans spent about one year making about 10,000 structural components. From next month on, the components will be shipped to Canada and the assembly work is expected to finish before October 2009. In addition, the construction of three other Buddhist buildings is expected to complete within 10 years.
