Starting from July 1, the Yuyao Hemudu Museum, a national key cultural relic protection unit, is to be closed for renovation for half a year. In about half a year, the museum will be much bigger.
The Hemudu Cultural Museum has been open for 15 years. It has received about 1.3 million tourist arrivals. The museum comprises two parts: a 3200 square-meter main building and 23000 square-meter site. On the site, the original excavation place, the piling-style houses are restored, giving a full exhibition of the production and living conditions of the primitive people. After the renovation, the exhibition hall will be increased by over 30%, reaching 1600 square meters. Some new exhibits will be added and new ways of exhibition will be presented. The unique ancient rice-planting culture and the piling buildings will be showcased. And particularly the cultural life of the primitive people will be exhibited too.
