Recently, a starting off ceremony Zhejiang volunteers for Beijing 2008 Olympics and the Special Olympics was held in Hangzhou. This ceremony was organized by Zhejiang Provincial Committee of The Youth League, Zhejiang Sports Bureau, Zhejiang Radio and TV Group and Zhejiang Volunteer Association.

　　It is learned that the recruitment of volunteers for the Olympics started in January last year. Since then, there have been 14,000 applicants. Of them, 100 volunteers have been selected, including 80 for Beijing Olympics, and 20 for the Special Olympics. Of them, the oldest is 43, the youngest 19, 90% of them being students.

　　Of the 80 volunteers for Beijing Olympics, 6 are from Ningbo. They are: Shao Shuyu from Ningbo Branch of China Construction Bank, Ye Shengheng from Ningbo Nottingham, Ni Jinmei and Zhan Lijuan from Ningbo University, Yang Lu and Wangbing from Zhejiang Wanli Collige.
