EU's New Policy on Electronic Products
稿源: english.ningbo.gov.cn | 2008-09-09 14:06:17

A bulletin released by the EU Commission says the EU will soon implement a new policy aiming to reduce the power consumption of electronic products in Standby Mode and Hibernation Mode. With the new standards, the costs will rise by some 20%, which will cause a grave impact on the export businesses of the city.

According to the bulletin, the maximum power consumption of electric appliances standby in the EU market must drop to 1-2 watts per hour by the year 2010 and 0.5-1 watt by 2013. But currently in China, the power consumption in standby mode is as high as 20 watts per hour. So the standby power consumption will probably become another barrier for the export business of China.
