The 11th China Fishing Festival was initiated on September 14th in Xiangshan. Colorful activities were held during the festival.

　　On the morning of 15th, a ceremony entitled Sacrificing to the Sea was held. It is said that the ceremony was held completely by fishermen themselves. With the company of yo-heave-ho, a flag was raised. A fisherman gave a speech to show fishermen’s deep reverence for the Sea. Then, all the fishermen made three bows to the Sea who has benefited them generation after generation.

　　At 11:28 of September 16, with three bangs of gong, more than 2000 fishers started for the sea, which marked the beginning of a new year’s fishing season.

　　Another important part of the fishing festival was the inauguration of a campaign named Protecting our Charming Sea. 67 beauties taking part in Global Queen Beauty competition signed their names on a streamer in the purpose of advocating the idea that protecting the sea is protecting human beings. They then put more than 1000 fish fries into the sea.

　　A party was also held during the festival. More than 200 compatriots from Taiwan were invited to take part in the party, in which singers and dancers from the mainland and Taiwan demonstrated their deep respect for traditional Chinese culture and their sincere aspiration for peaceful living.
